Add a Quilt or Covering

After you’ve made the bed with sheets and a comforter, it’s time to add a quilt or other decorative covering. I find that a neutral colored quilt instantly transports me to a peaceful luxury spa. It’s also a perfect fit for toss blankets and soft pillows, should you ever decide to switch them out.

You can easily add this layer by draping a quilt or other bed covering neatly over the duvet that is already enclosed in sheets. Either fold it back to the third of the way from the foot of the bed, below the tuck in of the sheets or duvet, or down to the third of the way from the head of the bed. This decision is entirely up to you and your desired aesthetic.

 


The Final Steps in Making Your Bed

The only extras I use are a throw blanket and a large lumbar pillow. (Seriously, if you like warm blankets, you should look into one. A few years ago, a blanket became a Christmas favorite in my family, and I can attest that it is the coziest blanket ever. (I never go to bed without one by my side, because I am always freezing in the middle of the night, and they are the epitome of coziness.)
